Chocodiles! I rarely eat snack cakes, but when I'm out west and I see Chocodiles, I always buy one. I don't care for regular Twinkies, but I love a Chocodile.

Second place would be Pecan Rollers, I think, and then Zingers, but only the raspberry-coconut ones, followed by Ding-Dongs, frozen.

I think that the Hostess equivalent of the Devil Dog is a "Suzy-Q", though. Snack cake pedantry!

I tried to find a list of their products when I was composing this, but not even Wikipedia could help me with that. Yarrrr!

I voted Ding Dongs because I remember having those in my lunch sometimes as a kid. But I can't remember the last time I ate a Hostess product, so really, I can't say I will actually "miss" them.

I think you did fine work.

It wasn't until this all started going down that I realized that Wonder Bread was a Hostess product.

It's a tough call for me between Twinkies and Ho-Hos.

Of course, in the end the brand has too strong a name recognition to be allowed to die off. Someone will buy the brand and Twinkie the Kid will ride again.

None, they will all be back as soon as the rights are sold off. My faves were always the fried ies, though, mmm...

Man, I didn't realized Zingers were hostess. I thought they were Dolly Madison. Dang! I know what I'm stocking up on tonight.

Ohhhh, Hostess pies. I haven't had one in years but there was a time when they could be had for a quarter, and I ate a cherry pie almost every day.

Yup, good stuff.

Who really cares about Hostess, though. As long as Tastykake and Butterscotch Krimpets are safe, all is right in the world!

I believe Hostess owns Dolly Madison. I love Zingers, too!

I know they're going to sell off the brands, this is just an intellectual exercise.

Yeah, Hostess owns Dolly Madison and Drake's, as well as Wonder and several other bread brands.

Oh man, if Tastykake ever goes down, things are gonna get bad.

Oh hell, I forgot about the fried pies. We have Mrs. Baird's fried pies but they are nowhere NEAR as good as Hostess' apple pies.

Jen posted a link to the Twinkies recipe, which I think I might try to do one of these days, but what I really want to duplicate is the chocolate frosting on the cupcakes.

Suzy Qs! I haven't eaten them in decades but those were by far my favorites.

As far as non-Hostess products go, I like Little Debbie Swiss Cake Rolls. And Ring Dings!

Oh, man, this makes me realize, another thing I'd miss: Donettes! You little tori of deliciousness!

While I don't turn my nose up at Hostess (they made a reasonable Holiday Fruitcake, on par with Claxton), I'm more a fan of Little Debbie. Swiss Cake Rolls and Boston Creme Rolls! The fruit pies I like more in theory than practice, but other people make the pies too.

On a personal level the loss of Hostess is sad, but not tragic.

Every time I get an apple pie at McDonald's--which is not often, but still--I lament their dearly departed fried pies. Oh, how I love fried pies.

I have no idea if this is still true, but within relatively recent years, some of the European McDonald's franchises still did fried apple pie. When I was in Amsterdam, we went to McDonald's EVERY DAY for this reason, and that they still fried the french fries in lard.

This makes me realize I don't much care for any of those. The whole thing makes me realize how much I still miss the original Dolly Madison (not all the products were retained when Hostess bought them). I picked Wonder Bread because of childhood nostalgia.

I don't really eat any of these, but the lack of Twinkies makes me worry about the impending zombie apocalypse.

I got Devil Dogs for nostalgia sake a few months ago. There is one left in the pantry. The cake has a funny aftertaste I don't like anymore, but the cream inside is still yum (cue pervy joke).

I had a Little Debbie Star Crunch in my lunch all the time as a kid.
